이 작업에 대한 아이디어는 한국전쟁으로 오랫동안 남한에 살고있는 어느 한 노인의 인터뷰 영상을 보고 시작되었다. 한국전쟁 당시 중학생이었던 이 노인은 자신의 옷주름을 만지면서 남한으로 탈출시켜보냈던 아버지의 목소리를 생생하게 기억하고있었으며, 이 사연을 듣던 나는 한 인간의 가장 슬픈모습을 보게되었다. 개인의 자유선택이 아닌 사회,정치적 갈등과 분쟁으로 인하여 부득이하게 사랑하는 이들(가족, 친구, 연인 등)과 헤어지거나 먼길을 떠나야만했던 이들의 비극적 삶은 비단 한국전쟁의 비극 뿐아니라 동시대 종교, 정치사회적 갈등과 분쟁으로인하여 고향, 고국을 떠나 타지로 배회하는 수많은 난민들의 개인의 삶 역시 비극이라 여긴다. 나는 현재의 분쟁과 분열로 영원히 만나지 못할지도 모를 이들(난민)개인의 비극적 삶에서 사랑하는 이들과 다시 만나기를 바라는 이들의 그리움에 대한 마음을 노인으로 특수분장하여 초상사진으로 담은 난민청년들의 모습에서 이들의 비극적 삶의 모습을 담아보고자 하였다.

Eternal Memory _ Abdulaziz Al Khubi (born 1984) 영원한 기억_압둘라즈 알 쿠비(1984년 생)
Born in 1984 in Darra, Syria, Al Khubi moved to Berlin a little over two years ago. He works as a hardware engineer. The first of two boys and a girl, he now lives in Germany with his younger brother Ahmad Al Khubi. Their sister and parents still live in Syria.
1984년 시리아 다라출신으로 베를린에 이주한지 2년 조금 넘었다. 직업은 기계설비 엔지니어이다. 그는 2남 1녀 중 첫째이며, 현재 남동생 아메드 알 쿠비와 독일에 살고있다. 부모님과 여동생은 아직 시리아에 남아있다.

Eternal Memory _ Ahmad Al Khubi (born 1996) 영원한 기억_아메드 알 쿠비(1996년 생)
Ahmad was born in Darra, Syria in 1996 and is the younger brother of Abdulaziz Al Khubi. He moved to Germany with his brother two years ago. Currently he is studying political science. Their sister and parents still live in Syria.
1996년 시리아 다라출신으로 압둘라즈 알 쿠비와 형제 관계이다. 그는 그의 형과 함께 2년전 독일로 이주하였다. 현재 그는 정치학 공부를 하고 있다. 부모님과 여동생은 아직 시리아에 남아있다.

Eternal Memory _ Ahmad Al odet Allah (born 1992) 영원한 기억_아메드 오뎃 알라(1992년 생)
Born in Darra, Syria in 1992, he settled in Berlin three years ago. Currently studying political science at the University. His family consists of his parents and six brothers and one sister, of whom he is the youngest. His parents now live in Turkey, three brothers are in the Netherlands, and two brothers are in Sweden. His sister is still in Syria.
1992년 시리아 다라 출생으로 3년전 베를린에 정착하게 되었다. 현재 대학에서 정치학 공부를 하고있다. 그의 가족구성은 부모님과 6남1녀이며, 그 중 그가 막내이다. 현재 그의 부모님은 터키에, 3명의 형은 네덜란드에, 2명의 형은 스웨덴에 살고있다. 누나는 아직 시리아에 남아있다.

Eternal Memory _ Ahmad Alsagher (born 1991) 영원한 기억_아메드 알사거(1991년 생)
Ar-Raqqa, located in the north of Syria, is Ahmad Alsagher’s hometown and he has been in Berlin for about two years. He is employed as an engineer. He also likes to write poetry.
시리아 북쪽에 위치한 알-라카가 그의 고향이며, 베를린에 거주한지 2년정도 되었다. 직업은 엔지니어이다. 동시에 시인이기도 하다.

Eternal Memory _ Ahmad Lababidi 영원한 기억_아메드 라바비디
Ahmad Lababidi came to Berlin from Syria two years ago. He is currently learning German at a refugee exchange cafe in Berlin.
시리아 출신으로 베를린으로 온지 2년 되었다. 현재 베를린에 위치한 난민교류카페에서 아르바이트하며 독일어를 배우고 있다.

Eternal Memory _ Joud Ajam (born 1993) 영원한 기억_요오드 아잠(1993년 생)
It has been about two years since he came to Germany from Aleppo, Syria. When he rst arrived in Germany, he lived near the German and Polish border. He is currently studying biotechnology in Berlin. He has one younger brother, and their father currently lives in Cairo, Egypt.
시리아 알레포출신으로 독일에 이주한지 약 2년 정도 되었다. 첫 독일 도착은 독일과 폴란드 국경 지역이었으며, 현재 베를린에서 생명공학기술(바이오테크놀로지)을 공부하고 있다. 형제는 남동생 하나가 전부이며, 아버지는 현재 이집트 카이로에 계신다.

Eternal Memory _ Majd Ajam (born 1995) 영원한 기억_마쥬드 아잠(1995년 생)
A few months after his brother, Joud Ajam moved to Germany. Majd Ajam and his mother moved to Germany from Aleppo, Syria. He currently lives in the Halle area(a little distance from Berlin) with his mother. He would like to study to be an engineer in the future.
형 요오드 아잠보다 몇 개월 후에 어머니와 함께 시리아 알레포에서 독일로 이주하였다. 현재 어머니와 베를린에서 조금 떨어진 할레지역에 살고 있다. 앞으로 엔지니어 관련 공부를 하고 싶다고 한다.

Eternal Memory _ Nauras Ali (born 1991) 영원한 기억_나우라스 알리(1991년 생)
Nauras Ali, born in 1991, is from Damascus, Syria. He majored in English in Syria and is an Arabic-English translator. He writes poetry and novels, and is currently working on a novel based on his own story, which he wrote in Arabic and he is now translating it into German. He arrived in southern Germany about two years ago and remained there approximately a year. He then moved to Berlin. He currently works in Berlin as an Arabic teacher and documentary film editor. His brother and family also live in Berlin, and are working not as refugees, with legitimate work permits.
1991년 시리아 다마스커스출신이다. 시리아에서 영문학을 전공하였으며 아랍어-영어 번역가로 활동하고있다. 동시에 그는 시와 소설을 집필하고있으며, 현재 자신의 이야기를 바탕으로 아랍어로 썼던 소설을 독일어로 소개하기 위한 번역 작업중에 있다. 약 2년 전 독일 남부지역에 도착하여 약 1년간 그 곳에서 지냈다. 이후 베를린으로 이주하였다. 현재 베를린에서 아랍어 교사, 다큐멘터리 영상 에디터 등의 일을 하고있다. 그의 형과 형의 가족도 베를린에 살고 있으며 난민출신이 아닌 합법적인 노동허가를 받아 일하고 있다.
